Business Development Representative

We're looking for a Business Development Representative to work directly with the founding team. This is a high-ownership role for someone early in their career who wants to learn how revenue gets built at a fast-growing AI startup that's already changing how commercial real estate teams work. You'll be the tip of the spear — generating pipeline, opening doors with CRE firms, and laying the groundwork for deals that grow the business.
What you will do
- Build and manage outbound pipeline by identifying, researching, and reaching out to CRE acquisitions and asset management teams — family offices, institutional investors, and real estate PE firms
- Craft personalized outreach across email, phone, and LinkedIn that cuts through the noise and earns meetings with senior decision-makers
- Qualify inbound leads quickly and route the highest-potential opportunities to the sales team
- Develop a deep understanding of CRE workflows — underwriting, deal screening, asset management — so your outreach speaks directly to what these teams care about
- Research target accounts thoroughly: know the firm, know the portfolio, know the pain points before you pick up the phone
- Collaborate with the founding team to test and refine messaging, targeting, and outbound playbooks based on what's working
- Track all activity and pipeline meticulously in the CRM, keeping data clean and forecasts accurate
- Partner with marketing to identify the right events, content, and channels to reach CRE professionals
- Bring market intelligence back to the team — what objections are you hearing, what competitors are coming up, what language resonates
- Hustle creatively — find unconventional ways to get in front of the right people and build relationships that open doors
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in business development, sales, or a client-facing role — or a strong internship track record and clear hunger to break into sales
- Excellent written communication — your cold emails are concise, relevant, and get replies
- Comfort with high-volume outreach and the resilience to push through rejection daily
- Strong research skills — you can quickly learn an industry, a firm, and a persona well enough to have a credible conversation
- Organized and disciplined — you can manage a pipeline, hit activity targets, and keep your CRM current without being asked
- Intellectual curiosity about commercial real estate and how technology is transforming it
- Coachability and a genuine desire to improve every week
Bonus
- Experience prospecting into financial services, real estate, or professional services firms
- Familiarity with CRE — even just a personal interest in real estate investing or exposure through past roles
- Experience using outbound sales tools (Apollo, Outreach, Salesloft, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, etc.)
- Background at an early-stage startup where you helped build pipeline from scratch
- Prior experience in CRE, brokerage, or finance before moving into a sales role
- Understanding of AI/ML products and comfort explaining technical concepts simply
- Existing network or relationships in the CRE space
