We're looking for a Product Designer to work directly with the founding team. This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to shape the core experience of an AI product that's already changing how commercial real estate teams work. You'll own design end-to-end — from early research through polished, shipped interfaces — and operate at the center of a fast-growing AI startup where your work has immediate, visible impact.
What you will do
- Own the end-to-end design process for Examen's AI analyst platform, from concept through delivery
- Translate complex CRE workflows — underwriting, deal screening, valuations — into intuitive, elegant product experiences
- Partner closely with engineering and AI teams to design interactions that make powerful analytical tools feel effortless
- Conduct user research with acquisitions and asset management professionals to deeply understand how they work and where they struggle
- Design across multiple surfaces: our web application, Excel integrations, email-based workflows, and whatever comes next
- Build and maintain a coherent design system that scales as the product grows
- Prototype and test new concepts quickly, iterating based on real user feedback
- Collaborate with the founding team on product strategy, using design thinking to inform what we build and why
- Sweat the details — from information hierarchy in a financial model to microcopy in an AI-generated deliverable
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in product design, ideally working on complex, data-rich applications
- A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product thinking, not just visual polish
- Deep comfort with interaction design for workflows, tables, dashboards, and tools — not just marketing pages
- Experience working directly with engineers and shipping real product
- Proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and make smart design decisions with limited direction
- Strong communication skills — you can articulate your rationale and advocate for users clearly
Bonus
- Experience designing for financial services, real estate, or other professional workflows
- Familiarity with AI/ML product patterns — prompt interfaces, generated outputs, human-in-the-loop flows
- Experience designing for Excel plugins, email-based UX, or multi-surface products
- Background in or curiosity about commercial real estate
- Experience as an early-stage design hire or at a high-growth startup
- Motion design or front-end development skills
