Location: San Francisco | Type: Full-time | Department: Product
We're looking for a Product Manager to work directly with the founding team. This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to define what an AI-powered analyst can do for commercial real estate professionals. You'll own the product roadmap, make hard prioritization calls daily, and operate at the center of a fast-growing AI startup where your decisions ship to real users within days, not quarters.
What you will do
- Own the product roadmap for Examen's AI analyst platform, balancing user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility
- Deeply understand how CRE acquisitions and asset management teams work — their workflows, pain points, and what "done well" looks like for underwriting models, deal screening, and valuations
- Translate that understanding into clear product specs and priorities that engineering and design can execute on quickly
- Drive the full product lifecycle from discovery through launch, iterating fast based on real usage and feedback
- Spend serious time with customers — joining calls, watching them work, reading every piece of feedback — and turn those insights into product direction
- Partner with engineering and AI teams to shape how we integrate LLMs into professional-grade financial workflows
- Define success metrics for features and hold the team (and yourself) accountable to outcomes, not just output
- Manage the product across multiple surfaces — web app, Excel, email — and ensure a coherent experience across all of them
- Collaborate with the founding team on company strategy, GTM, and positioning as the product evolves
- Make tradeoffs decisively and communicate them clearly to the team
Qualifications
- 3+ years of product management experience, ideally on complex, workflow-driven or data-heavy products
- Demonstrated ability to ship products that users love, not just features that check boxes
- Strong analytical thinking — you're comfortable digging into usage data, financial models, or user research to find the right answer
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal — you can write a crisp spec, run a productive meeting, and present to customers
- Experience working closely with engineering teams and a strong enough technical intuition to have productive architecture conversations
- Comfort with ambiguity and speed — you can make good decisions with incomplete information and course-correct quickly
- A bias toward action and ownership over process and consensus
Bonus
- Experience in commercial real estate, financial services, or building tools for finance professionals
- Experience working on AI/ML products, especially LLM-powered features or AI-generated outputs
- Background in consulting, investment banking, or asset management — you understand the end user firsthand
- Experience as an early PM hire or at a high-growth startup where you wore many hats
- Technical background (CS degree, prior engineering role, or equivalent)
- Experience with multi-surface products (web, plugins, email-based workflows)
- Familiarity with the CRE tech landscape and existing tooling teams use today
Why this role and our culture
This role gives you a front-row seat to how a high-growth AI company is built. You'll work across every function, see how key decisions are made, and own the direction of a product that teams already depend on daily. For the right person, this can be a springboard to VP of Product, broader company leadership, or founding your own company.
